Falkenstein Mandolin Orchestra
Description
On Friday 30th May 2025, we welcome our friends from Koenigstein who Faringdon is twinned with. An event not to be missed, is the Falkenstein Mandolin Orchestra who are performing at The Corn Exchange at 7.30pm.
About Falkenstein Mandolin Club
The Falkenstein Mandolin Club was founded in 1925 and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The orchestra, consisting of mandolin, mandola, guitar and double bass, is known for its numerous concerts in Germany and abroad, successful participation in competitions and festivals, and appearances on radio and television. As a musical ambassador, the orchestra was a driving force in the establishment of the town twinning with Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe in Normandy, France, and the Polish town of Kórnik, and still maintains regular exchanges with all of Königstein's twin towns.
In keeping with this tradition, we are delighted to strengthen our most recent town twinning with Faringdon in a new musical friendship.
Various CD productions and awards bear witness to the ensemble's achievements, which currently comprises over 20 musicians under the direction of Natalia Alencova. With varied programmes ranging from timeless classical music to folk music from around the world, to pop music and modern compositions that one would not necessarily expect from a plucked string orchestra, the Falkenstein Mandolin Club repeatedly surprises its audiences.
Tickets
April early bird prices - £7.50
May prices - £10.00
